Terms of Use and Guidelines for the Global Health Promotion Hub and Disclaimers
The WHO Global Health Promotion Hub provides a forum for professionals working in the field of Health Promotion and Non Communicable Disease (NCD) prevention to meet, collaborate and network with each other, with WHO, and with key stakeholders around the world. It is a collaborative platform where organisations and individuals can share initiatives and experiences from the different fields that have an impact on the global health promotion agenda.
This interactive Hub will host live debates and discussions and provide opportunities for groups to develop actions and activities with partners from all over the world. Through the development of this global platform, it is hoped that health care professionals with a role or interest in Health Promotion will engage in events, access publications and useful documents and come together to build a large resource of expertise that will contribute to the health and well-being of our communities.
Please take note of the following terms of use and disclaimers. By accessing the Global Health Promotion Hub (the “Hub”), the user agrees to accept these terms of use and disclaimers. The World Health Organization (“WHO”) reserves the right to update these terms of use disclaimers without notice.
The Hub is intended for the use of registered users (who shall be individuals, institutions, non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, international, and intergovernmental organizations, such as professional societies, universities, hospitals, ministries or departments of health) having relevant and sufficient expertise in health promotion topics, for the purpose of knowledge exchange and learning between health professionals around the world. The content within the Hub is intended for the internal use of registered users only and may not be disclosed, shared, distributed or transmitted to persons outside the user community, or duplicated, republished, reused for presentation or used in any other way, including for advertising or commercial purposes, without the prior written consent of WHO.
The views expressed on the Hub are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of WHO.
Although all reasonable precautions have been taken to verify the content contained on the Hub, in no event shall WHO be responsible for the accuracy of information posted by any user on the Hub. WHO makes no warranties or representations regarding the completeness or accuracy of any content posted on the Hub and shall not be held liable for any damages whatsoever as a result of its use or application. The responsibility for the interpretation and use of the content lies with the reader and/or user. WHO reserves the right to make updates and changes to posted content without notice and accepts no liability for any errors or omissions in this regard.
WHO accepts no responsibility whatsoever for any inaccurate advice or information that may be posted on the Hub or referred to in sources reached via links or other external references to the content of the Hub.

Guidelines when using the Platform
The Hub is a community that fosters engagements built on mutual trust and co-operation.
1. Be respectful and courteous.
Please recognise that respectful and courteous behaviour creates a healthy and vibrant environment that befits everyone. Please treat other members with respect.
Be mindful of what others may find unacceptable according to their local customs.
Please refrain from:
• Abusive language, swearing.
• Name-calling, shaming language.
• Hateful or discriminatory language towards other members.
• Harassment, bullying or targeted attacks on other members.
2. Take care over the content posted.
Please recognise that some information may not be appropriate to share on this community and could cause offence and be harmful to others.
Please do not post content that includes:
• Any sexualised content;
• Anything that is racist, sexist, or otherwise offensive;
• Shockingly graphic, grotesque, or obscene;
• Designed for personal financial gain;
• Copyrighted (Link to the source instead);
• Not your own without naming the source;
• Content that conflicts with the values of this community eg: content that promotes behaviour harmful to health.
3. Online Communication
The Hub provides many features that allow users to interact with one another, including private messages. Please do not use these tools to send spam or phishing messages to other members. Spamming is the act of sending unsolicited communications promoting yourself or your agenda to many people. hoping that one will respond.
Please refrain from spamming or phishing activity which includes:
• Using likes, comments, private messaging, and other social features to draw attention to yourself disingenuously;
• Pretending to be someone you are not or assuming an identity in order to engage in fraudulent activity;
• Misusing platform features and functionality in a way that is not in line with their core purpose for personal gain;
• Leaving many irrelevant comments to draw attention to your account;
• Posts that explicitly promote a product or service;
• Posting questions in multiple locations before anyone has the opportunity to reply.
4. Use of private messages
When sending a direct message to another professional, please follow these guidelines:
• Your message must be related to Health Promotion topics;
• When messaging, be mindful that others may not know who you are; and
• Do not use over familiar language and storytelling to elicit favours or money from members.
What to do if you witness a breach of these Terms of Use and Guidelines?
If you encounter a post or comment that violates these guidelines, please click on the three dots at the top right of the post and click "Report This Content". After you report the content, our platform administrator will review the post and take the appropriate action. If a post or account is detrimental to the Hub, the management team reserve the right to remove them without warning.

What is the process following a breach of these Terms of Use, including the Guidelines?
The platform administration team will undertake a swift and thorough review of the breach (within 48 hours).
After investigation and review of the breach, the management team will do one or more of the following:
• Provide a written warning to the platform member; and/or
• Temporary suspension of platform member; and/or
• Permanently ban member from the platform; and/or
• Report serious violations to relevant authorities.

Privacy policy
Your privacy on the Internet is of utmost importance to the WHO Global Health Promotion Hub administrators. This privacy statement describes the policy concerning the gathering and sharing of visitors’ information through the GlobalHealth Promotion Hub site. The site may publish supplementary privacy policies with particular requirements to collect personal information if the need arises. In these cases, the site-specific policies will be complementary to this general privacy policy and will give details about the additional information to be collected and its purpose.
What information does The Global Health Promotion Hub collect?
Normal web site usage
It is possible to browse some of the public pages of the site without revealing any personal information about yourself. The only information gathered during general browsing is from standard server logs. These include your IP (Internet Protocol) address, domain name, browser type, operating system, and information such as the web site that referred you to the site, the files you may download, the pages you visit, and the dates/times of those visits.
Personally identifiable and contact information
If you register with the Hub as a member you can gain access to closed contents including discussion forums, events, news and library resources. To become a member, you will be asked to provide personal identifying information such as your name, institutional affiliation and job title, and contact information such as e-mail address. We will also ask you to identify your areas of interest. This information will be collected only with your knowledge and permission, and will be stored securely in the Hub database and mailing lists. Your information will not be distributed for any purpose. You may choose to share your contact information with other Hub members.
Information provided during discussions
Information that you provide during discussions or during live events will be available to other members of the group and to the Hub administration team. Most discussions will be available to any Hub member who lists the subject material as an interest. Some discussions may be restricted to specific groups as determined by the Moderator or Discussion Group leader.
You will be responsible for your contributions to discussions, therefore:
• you must ensure that any material and information you post does not violate or infringe upon the copyright, patent, trademark or any other personal or proprietary rights of any party. If any content subject to such rights is considered for posting, you must first obtain all necessary permissions for posting from the owner of such rights;
• be careful with the tone of your postings, remembering that Hub members come from different age groups and cultural backgrounds;
• Be aware that criticism against peoples, gender, race, religious beliefs, sexual preferences, countries or regions will not be tolerated.
To maintain the quality and consistency of the contents in compliance with the Privacy Policy moderators and administrators may remove or modify messages that do not respect the above mentioned conduct. In the event that you find another member’s submission to be offensive, you may report this to the moderator or discussion group leader who will determine whether the material should be removed or modified.
In no event shall the Hub management team, or the World Health Organization (WHO) as the platform secretariat be responsible for the accuracy of information posted by you or other members on the site or be liable for any negative consequences arising from the participation in or the use of the website contents.
What does the Global Health Promotion Hub do with the information it collects?
Normal web site usage
The information gathered during general browsing of the Hub site will be used to analyse trends and usage of the Hub itself, and to improve the value of the site. It will not be connected with any personal information.
Personally identifiable information
The Hub may use the personal information you provide to:
• Verify your affiliation and institutional approval for membership in the Hub;
• Confirm your registration on the site;
• Contact you – either in response to a query or suggestion, or to mail newsletters, documents, publications, invitations to meetings etc. to you;
• Notify you if a new discussion has been started in one of your selected areas of interest or if new information has been added to an existing discussion;
• “Remember” your online profile and preferences;
• Help you quickly find information that is relevant to you based on your interests;
• Help us create site content most relevant to your interests;
• With your permission, share your contact information with other Hub members who may wish to contact you.
What if I don’t want to provide personal information?
Providing personal information on the Hub is optional. If you choose not to provide personal information, you can still browse and use the public pages of the Hub, but you will not be able to log into the site for browsing the closed contents such as documents, events or joining discussion forums.
Opting out and changing your information
At any time, you may cancel your membership or modify your information by returning to the web page where you first provided the information and contacting the Hub administration team. If you change your institution/organisation affiliation, the Hub administrators should be notified by you or your institution/organisation.
Security
We do not sell or share any personally identifiable information volunteered on the Hub site to any third party. Any information provided to the Hub by its users is held with the utmost care and security, and will not be used in ways other than as set forth in this privacy policy, or in any site-specific policies, or in ways to which you have explicitly consented. The Hub employs a range of technologies and security measures to protect the information maintained on our systems from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
All our Hub administrators who have access to, and are associated with the processing of personal data, are obliged to respect the confidentiality of official business matters, including personal data.
The Hub contains links to external sites. WHO is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such sites.
Notification of changes
Changes to this privacy policy will be posted on the Hub.
